It's the ninety-first day of 2019 as I write this, and the first day of the second quarter of the year. Aside from school schedules and budget documentation, most of us don't think of the quarter-year marks. It's a neat opportunity, really, if we can wrap our minds around fresh quarters in the same way most of the world thinks of the new year - whenever that happens according to each culture's calendar. What if we set goals each thirteen weeks, four times a year?
Confession: until I curiously searched (literally just now), I didn't know there were thirteen-week planners for just this concept. There really is "nothing new under the Sun," as Solomon wrote...
Honestly, though, there are plenty of creative ways to contextualize our time and our effectiveness when working toward a goal, whether scholastic, vocational, creative, financial, or physical. Conversely to the quarter-year concept, what if we saw our efforts in thirteen sets of four days each - can you keep a promise to yourself for four days? Certainly you could. That next four days is a fresh start, and it would begin at different days of the week, so waiting for Monday to begin is rendered meaningless.
Jotting with Johnna
Have you ever considered the construct of time as something one might modify mentally? Yes, the orbit and rotation within our galaxy sets the celestial time, and it's a very nice thing that it is constant for our sake...but what if you "shook loose" from the week or year or even month-at-a-time measure of success and revision? What will you do consistently today and for the following three days? Imagine what you might accomplish if you took these fractional adjustments and added them over time?
Remember: you are so very worthy of the creative and critical thinking that moves you forward into wellness in every realm.
Stay tuned. Stay focused. Stay well.
